SHILLONG: The Additional District Magistrate, Nongpoh, has imposed prohibitory order under Section 144 CrPC banning construction and operation of makeshift stalls along NH-6 for illicit stockpiling and sale of coal.
Violation will invite prosecution under relevant section of the law, the order stated.
The order comes in the wake of reports that makeshift stalls have sprung up all along the highway catering to the stockpiling and sale of coal offloaded from trucks enroute the weighbridge at 25th Mile, Shangbangla.
Private vehicles not to park near weighbridge
In another order, the Magistrate has prohibited driver with private vehicles from stationing or loitering in and around the weighbridge at 25th Mile, Shangbangla. Diversion of coal trucks away from the designated route (NH-6) without mandatory weighment will be deemed illegal.
Two commercial vehicles parking Plying of coal-laden trucks through Nongpoh– Umden road via Byrnihat, Umsning– Jagi road, Umrit– Umling road and Mairang– Ranibari road is also prohibited.
Parking of commercial vehicles or coal-laden trucks at petrol pumps and service centres in Ri Bhoi and parking of more than two heavy commercial vehicles or coal laden trucks in one place along NH-6 will also invite prosecution, the order stated.
