SHILLONG: A conglomeration of different groups from West Khasi Hills (WKH) including local youths and some NGOs from Shillong has urged the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma to revoke the untimely transfer order of Deputy Commission Arun Kumar Kembhavi.
The NGOs comprising of CSWO, TUR and others from West Khasi Hills on Monday met the Chief Minister and opposed the transfer of the IAS officer which they felt as illegal and did not meet the principles of transparency
The NGOs also said that the sudden transfer of Kembhavi was also contrary to the Supreme Court order of October, 31,2013. The Apex Court had ordered for the constitution of a Civil Services Board to advise and guide the State Governments on all matter especially on transfers, posting and disciplinary actions.
The petition said that if their demands were not met, they would resort to other constitutional modes Later, Agnes Kharshiing said that the Chief Minister did not assure anything on the matter but only maintained that the transfer was made as per the rules.
