6 Kuki Liberation Front ultras give up

GUWAHATI: Six militants belonging to Kuki Liberation Front (KLF) surrendered before the security forces in the state on Friday and deposited a huge cache of arms and ammunition, according to Assam Police.

The weapons deposited by the militants included one M-16 rifle, four AK series rifles, one 7.62 SLR, , three 12 bore rifles, two 7.65 pistols, two Chinese grenades, five AK series rifles’ magazines, one M-!^ magazine. Two 7.62 SLR magazines, four 7.65 pistol magazines, one .22 rifle magazine.

The militants  also deposited following live ammunition: 104 rounds of 5.56 mm, 256 rounds of 7.65 mm, 107 rounds of 7.62 mm, 44 rounds of .22 mm, 11 rounds of 12 bore, 21 rounds of 7.65 pistol, and three rounds of high explosives. They also deposited one radio set.

Police said these surrendered tribal militants would be rehabilitated as per the Revised Scheme for Surrender-cum-Rehabilitation of militants in the North East (as amended in January, 2018)  announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
