Five from Bengal assaulted in Ri Bhoi

NONGPOH: Five persons from West Bengal were assaulted at Umsning in Ri Bhoi on Saturday.
The five non-tribals had come to Lum Roman to sell fingerlings to a local there, sources said. They were assaulted around 9pm in which four received minor injuries and the fifth man had a major injury. All of them were taken to Shillong Civil Hospital. While the four have been released, the fifth man is still admitted.
Of the five men, four have been identified as Depanker Choudhury (30), Sadhu Choudhury (45), Piku Choudhury (age unknown) and Vishal Choudhury (30).
