SHILLONG: The SMS was restored on Thursday, while the state government is going slow before finally lifting all restrictions on mobile internet services.
Home Minister James Sangma said on Thursday that internet services will be restored slowly and the government is monitoring the situation.
“Services will be resumed depending on the situation”, he said.
When contacted, an official from a reputed mobile service provider said they have been asked by the Meghalaya government to stop the internet services till Friday 2 pm and then fresh directives will be given by the government.
An official said that the resumption of SMS is a first step before resuming mobile internet service. The internet services were banned from early morning of June 1 to quell rumours after clashes broke out in the city.
