Curfew further relaxed in city, internet back

SHILLONG: With normalcy returning to Shillong and in view of the improvement in law and order situation, the East Khasi Hills District Magistrate has announced further relaxation of the curfew hours in Shillong agglomeration and in the volatile areas of Shillong while also restoring internet services on Monday afternoon.
Curfew will be relaxed in the Shillong agglomeration between 5 am and 11 pm from Tuesday, while in the areas under Lumdiengjri police station – Jaiaw, Mawkhar, Umsohsun, Riatsamthiah, Wahingdoh, Mission, Mawprem, Lumdiengjri, Lamavilla, Qualapatty, Wahthapbru, Sunny Hill, Cantonment, Mawlong Hat including Cantonment Beat House Areas (excluding localities beyond Umshyrpi bridge) – the curfew will be relaxed between 5 am and 9 pm from Tuesday until further orders.
Meanwhile, the All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation asserted has asked the state government not to shut internet services as it has affected the citizens at large.
The organisation stated that ban on internet violates the fundamental rights of the citizens and asked the state government to strengthen the cyber laws to deal with rumour mongers.
