SHILLONG: A political drama was witnessed on Thursday after the Congress MLA from Ranikor, MM Danggo who was all set to resign as an MLA, did not resign and postpone his programme till next week
It was informed to the Deputy Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Timothy D Shira that MM Danggo would be reaching the Assembly Secretariat at 5 PM to submit his resignation to him.
Soon after the information spread, media persons reached the location to cover the programmes but the appointment time of 5 PM crossed and even till 6 O’ clock, Danggo did not turn up at the Assembly Secretariat in Police Bazar to submit his resignation.
Later, Timothy D Shira informed media persons that the MLA was scheduled to submit his resignation but he did not came due to some engagements.
However, the detail of his sudden decision to postpone the submission of the resignation was not indicated to the Deputy Speaker.
“ They ( Danggo) have told us that they would come next week to submit his resignation,” Shira said while adding that Danggo is sure to resign any time next week.
However, when will he come to submit the resignation next week is not known.
During the recent visit of the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to Ranikor, Danggo expressed his desire to join NPP provided that the civil sub division was inaugurated and had stated that he would quit the Congress and join NPP on the day of inauguration of the Ranikor civil sub-division.
