JOWAI: The All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organisation (AJYWO) has reiterated its demand for dismantling of a temple at Khliehriat.

“The government should immediately dismantle the temple located at Khliehriat, else we have to dismantle it by ourselves,” the AJYWO said in a statement issued here.

“The temple was constructed in a public place as the land belongs to PWD and therefore either the sub-divisional administrative or the district administration should immediately dismantle it,” the AJYWO said

The demand for dismantling of the Hindu temple illegally constructed in a public land has been for a year now, but till date no action was taken either by the Khliehriat sub-divisional officer or the Deputy Commissioner in Jaintia Hills.

“We made several requests and now we are to take stern action if the government fails to respond to our demand”, AJYWO president, MH Dkhar said.

Essay competition: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Narpuh circle, will hold an essay competition on February 7 at Christian Secondary School Lumshnong on the topic ‘To conserve and protect the Environment’ within Elaka Narpuh.
