SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has asked the SOS Children’s Village in Umiam to popularise the beautiful handicrafts made by the residents of the village by opening an outlet in the area.
Sangma, who attended the 99th SOS Day celebrations in Umiam on Saturday, said there should not be any compromise on hard work and urged the children to carry a positive attitude to life.
Sangma exhorted the organisation to work with selfless dedication towards the all round development and well being of the children and the youths.”Without infringing upon the purpose and objective of the organisation some external activities can be initiated, as the area is an important tourist location”, Sangma added.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to the welfare of each and every citizen of the state, Sangma urged all stakeholders to work towards achieving a greater prosperity and inclusive growth.
The chief minister also asked the children to take initiatives to preserve and protect the environment.
