NONGPOH: The Dorbar Shnong of Umsaw-lum, Ri Bhoi organised a felicitation for newly elected Umsning legislator Jason Sawkmie Mawlong and also inaugurated the newly constructed water tank at the village on Saturday.
Mawlong inaugurated the water tank in the presence of PDF leader Watson Kharkrang, Umsaw-lum headman H. Nongkseh, adviser of Shnong Umsaw-lum Y.C.P Lakhiat, and other dignitaries.
At the event, the village head expressed his happiness over the maiden visit of the legislator after assuming office as MLA and also handed a memorandum requesting the legislator to look into road connectivity, among other issues.
Speaking on the occasion, Mawlong thanked the organisers for felicitating him and the local people for their support during the last MLA election.
“I will fulfill my promise to bring development to the constituency in terms of better education and sport facilities”, Mawlong told the gathering.
He also urged the local residents to expressing their grievances and the need for development in any village of the constituency.
Meanwhile, the primary unit of PDF Umsning constituency including the Dorbar Shnong of Sohkyndur, Mawkhan, Mawpdeng also organised a felicitation programme for Mawlong.
The programme witnessed the participation of PDF leaders and leaders of the primary units of Umsning Constituency and Mawlong’s family.
