Woman shot dead by mentally challenged man

TURA: A 65-year-old woman was shot dead by a mentally challenged young man in Old Bhaitbari village of West Garo Hills on Thursday evening.
The victim, Salam Bewa, worked as a maid in the house of the accused.
The 22-year-old accused, Habinur Rahman, who had a history of mental problems took out his father’s single barrel shotgun (SBBL) and loading it with a live cartridge fired at the old woman at around 4 PM.
She was hit on the eye and died on the spot.
However, instead of alerting police the entire family, including the head of the house, Nurul Islam, whose gun was used in the murder abandoned the house and fled.
Police have seized the murder weapon along with the spent cartridge and some live ammunition from the crime scene. A certificate of mental illness belonging to the accused has also been recovered from the house and police have given out an alert to nab the accused who is absconding with his family.
