SHILLONG: The committee on the Village Administration Bill (VAB) has constituted a team that will compile views of and suggestions from stakeholders, organisations and the public.
KHADC Deputy CEM and chairman of the committee Teilinia Thangkhiew said on Monday the panel will meet on Friday to discuss in detail the views and suggestions which it would receive.
The team that has been set up consists of members and officials of the district council.
Thangkhiew said she was overwhelmed by people’s response to the call made by the Council for views on or before June 30.
Replying to a query, Thangkhiew said many new suggestions have been place before the committee to further strengthen the VAB. “It will take some more time before they initiate the process to compile the report,” she added.
Earlier, Thangkhiew had stated that they might call the meeting of various stakeholders if necessary.
The committee has three months’ time to complete its job.  According to Thangkhiew, the main task is to address various questions raised by the government on the relevance of the VAB.
“We would like to remove all the flaws to see that the aspiration of the people of seeing VAB becoming an Act becomes a reality,” the deputy CEM added.
