TURA: Three persons accused in the assault of a bank official of Chibinang SBI branch have surrendered to police on Friday.
The trio – Silemon Sk, Salim Sk (both from Haribanga village) and Frizul Islam Sarkar of Bangalkata village were identified by police and notices were served on them compelling them to give themselves up before the police.
The three accused assaulted banker Sylvester Marak when he came out of the bank for lunch on Thursday afternoon and fled. He had to be admitted at Phulbari government hospital.
Following the incident police beefed up security at the crowded SBI branch.
Bank officials are worried that such instances of threat and assault are becoming a regular feature in many SBI branches in the region.
Marak is not the first victim of assault. Previously, the branch manager was assaulted by a group of criminals in the market.
