SHILLONG: Retired IAS officer Dr CV Ananda Bose who has been appointed as the advisor to the Meghalaya government has officially joined duty on Wednesday.
The officer met a number of Cabinet ministers here at the Secretariat.
Talking to media persons later, Bose said Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has asked him to assist the government in formulation of policies and ensure that these are implemented.
“We would like to focus on overall development of the state and in areas of agriculture, infrastructure, food processing, education and tourism,” he added.
He also said the focus is on early and effective delivery of government policies and the “chief minister is keen on bringing the concept of best practice in good governance”.
Bose was of the view that certain areas in Meghalaya can produce tangible results but natural resources like bamboo has remained under-utilised. “There is tremendous scope for healthcare in Meghalaya and the state can emerge as the health hub for the country,” he added.
A senior civil servant, housing expert and innovator, Bose was earlier empanelled as secretary to the Government of India, additional chief secretary and university vice chancellor.
