TURA: Lower primary school teachers from East Garo Hills under the banner of the Non Government Lower Primary School Teachers’ Association (NGLPSTA) have sought the regularization of their services.
The teachers on Wednesday met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma at his residence in Tura and submitted a memorandum where they apprised him of financial hardships being faced by them due to the payment of their salaries on quarterly basis. They added that the system of payment also deprives them of availing bank loans.
According to the teachers, as they are not entitled to DCRG, leave salary, new pension scheme, CRF etc, they are forced to leave their services empty handed at the time of their retirement. With regard to the payment of DA, the teachers said that it was very late which is causing problems.
Stating that non government LP school teachers are holding regular posts as they have been sanctioned by the government, the teachers demanded that they are paid their salaries on pay scale basis. They pointed out that they have sufficient qualification and experience and are rendering the same service as regularized teachers.
During their meeting with the Chief Minister the teachers recalled instances where services of non government LP school teachers have been regularized by the government and urged that the same is done for them.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister is said to have assured them that the matter would be looked into and taken up with the Director of Education.
