Formalin tests on imported fishes found negative

SHILLONG: In what can be termed as good news for Meghalaya, all the tests carried out to detect presence of   formalin in fishes imported to the state have given negative results.

As per the   surveillance reports on fishes submitted by   officers of the Food Safety department and Fishery Directorate of fishes, a joint inspection of fishes   for detection of formalin was conducted in 20 spots and    all the samples tested were found negative for formalin content.

As per the report, in 17   samples of fishes were imported from Morigaon, Assam while three were from Andhra Pradesh and one was from   West Bengal.
