SHILLONG: Unhappy at his team’s performance, Shillong Lajong FC coach Pradyum Reddy admitted that the midfield was a major weaklink for his side and cost them the match.
Reddy also pointed out that the major difference between the two sides in Wednesday’s tie was the performance of the strikers.
“Churchill strikers capitalised on their chances, we did not,” Reddy said.
According to Reddy, absence of Johny Menyongar and Lalramluaha also cost the team dear.
“To beat a team like Churchill Brothers, you need your best players to be at their best. Unfortunately we lacked on all of these things in today’s match,” Reddy said.
Meanwhile, Churchill Brothers coach Manuel Gomes said he was satisfied with the performance of his team.
“We have won the match since players have played according to the plan. We also controlled the game during the whole 90 minutes of play. The home team did put us on the back foot in the initial part of the first half but the boys did well to stage a comeback,” Gomes said.
While congratulating Lajong for their good show, the Churchill coach also praised the newly laid artificial turf. “A team like Lajong deserves to have a good ground,” he said.
