GUWAHATI: Officials of the Kamrup metro district administration on Saturday visited Accoland, an amusement park on the outskirts of the city, and detected various anomalies, including contaminated water.
Kamrup metro deputy commissioner, Virendra Mittal had earlier ordered a magisterial-level inquiry in the wake of media reports and complaints by visitors of “skin allergy” caused by “dirty water” at the amusement park located on Rani Road, Patgaon. The DC also pledged action against the park if it was found violating norms.
Speaking to The Shillong Times on Saturday evening, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Ranjit Konwar, who led the delegation to the amusement park for the probe, said, “We found several anomalies there. The water used there was contaminated while the structures apparently have not been built according to norms.
We are yet to know how and from which authority the park had acquired permission for operation.”
Accoland is known for a variety of rides, slides and water parks with footfalls generally the highest during summer.
Asked by when he would submit a report, Konwar said, “There are 10 departments associated here coupled with various technical issues which have to be considered before a comprehensive report can be prepared.
Hopefully, by Monday evening, I shall be able to submit a report to the deputy commissioner.”
