SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was apprised about the alleged illegal appointments taking place in the state.
In a letter addressed to the chief minister, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said the government should put an end to nepotism in the appointment to various posts.
“It is no secret as we all know how interviews for various posts are a sham, money is exchanged for posts, officials and politicians push in their own wards, interviews are cancelled to wait for relatives of those in power, marks are tampered, interview results are marked with pencils to adjust marks later”, Kharshiing said.
She said it is the duty of every member of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly to uphold the law and not break them.
She deplored that when many youths are unemployed, there is no proper follow-up by the government officials with the appointing authorities.
“ The latest being the delay by the departments of Agriculture and Horticulture in recruiting the bonded agriculture graduates to various posts”, she said.
She pointed out that it is not only the job seekers who are frustrated, but also promotion seekers whose promotions are stalled because of post retirement jobs.
According to Kharshiing, many Missions, Corporations, Agencies and Societies having IAS officers as board members were created which are tailor made to fit some officers after their retirement.
She called for proper functioning of MIDC and MTDC claiming that there are some illegal appointments.
