SHILLONG: In the wake of reports stating that non-tribals without trading licences were detected by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), KHADC chief executive member HS Shylla has said the enforcement wing of the district council will be answerable if non-tribals are found operating without valid licences.
“The enforcement wing of the KHADC that monitors the licences will have to be answerable as to how non-tribals operate their trade without licence.”  “Trading licence should be implemented in a stringent manner,” Shylla told reporters.
On being asked about the inquiry into the alleged Rs 28-crore scandal, Shylla said that the statement made by PDF MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri to initiate a CBI probe was unfounded.
“She spoke without any understanding. I have spoken to the officers and files are being studied,” he said adding that nothing can be said at the moment as the council will check on whether the guidelines of the state government were followed or not.
