SHILLONG: The NITI Aayog and the Meghalaya government will partner to develop a blueprint for the state.
Talking to media persons after holding a marathon meeting with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and senior government officials here, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar said they discussed about developmental programmes and policies of the state government.
He was impressed with the developmental programmes initiated by the state government in various sectors like agriculture, tourism, infrastructure development and the upcoming National Games.
The meeting also discussed constraints affecting the state like lack of trained teachers, lack of electricity connection in schools and poor mobile connectivity in border areas.
“We will take up all these issues with the concerned ministries and the Union government and extend necessary assistance to the Meghalaya government”, he said.
Kumar also informed that the Meghalaya government was contemplating to go for major PPP investments in the tourism sector and assured all help from the NITI Aayog in this regard.
Conrad said presentations were given by almost all the departments and the various challenges were brought to the notice of the NITI Aayog official who assured support to resolve all the issues.
Asked about the proposed blueprint for Meghalaya, Sangma said the blueprint will allow the government to list the challenges faced by all the departments and allow the state government to work on them in a time bound manner.
