TURA: Independent candidate and former MLA, John Leslee K Sangma has denied screening a video of Late P A Sangma visiting a temple and accepting a ‘tika’ as alleged by the NPP in its complaint to the Election Commission.

The Election commission had issued a show cause notice to the former legislator in this regard.

“I have replied to the notice issued to me by the Returning officer 51-South Tura and have done my duty where I have clarified  that no such screening of video of Lt P A Sangma visiting a mandir and accepting a tika was screened,” stated John Leslee in his clarification over the controversy.

He accused NPP leaders, including complainant and NPP general secretary Mathias Marak, of being misled and demanded evidence of any such screening.

“This is a diversion tactic,” claimed John Leslee and accused his opponents of adopting such a strategy to create a negative impression of him.

However, the former MLA has again raised the same issue in his clarification statement questioning if such a video does exist which, according to the Independent candidate, goes against Christian principles.
