HYC seeks James intervention in border dispute

SHILLONG: The HYC on Friday met Home Minister James Sangma with a request to look into the alleged harassment by Assam police in the border villages of Meghalaya-Assam by deploying adequate police personnel in the affected villages. Speaking to reporters, HYC general secretary Roy Kupar Synrem said, “The residents of Block-II are living in fear following the cases of harassment.”
The organisation urged the minister to deploy police personnel in Umru and Umwang to ensure peace and security in the area.
The minister, on his part, assured to look into the matter and do the needful.
