SHILLONG: Congress leader Zenith Sangma said on Saturday there is insecurity in the NPP camp because it is short of majority.
Sangma’s remark comes a day after NPP legislator from Phulbari Esmatur Mominin alleged that the Congress was trying to destabilise the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance.
Sangma said the coalition, supported by so many partners, is not a strong government.
“There will be no stability in this government which is known by all and because of this, the NPP MLAs and party functionaries are insecure,” he added.
The senior leader rejected the allegations that the Congress was trying to topple the government saying the party “does not want to waste its time”.
“If we want to topple the government, we can do it at any point of time and we will be successful as well but since NPP leaders, including party presidents, have made a lot of promises during elections so let them give proof to the people through action,” he said, adding that people should know how much the party can deliver and “when the appropriate time will come, this government will definitely fall”.
Earlier, Mominin had downplayed any threat to the coalition government.
