Girl student in IIT-G from Karnataka commits suicide

GUWAHATI: A girl student of B.Tech first year mechanical engineering in the India Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) committed suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room on Wednesday morning much to the shock of the entire community in the premier institution.

Police informed that the deceased student, Nagashree Aithal, a boarder of Dhansiri hostel was from Karnataka.

The student hanged herself from a ceiling fan of her hostel room after her roommate had left for attending morning classes.

The reason behind the alleged suicide was not yet known while the police have started investigation into the matter.
