Arrested Hizb-ul suspect remanded to 6 days police custody

GUWAHATI: Shah Nawaz Alam, who was arrested by Assam Police from Jamnamukh area in Nagaon district on Friday for his alleged link with banned Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, was remanded to six days’ police custody on production in the local court.

Alam is accused of being an accomplice of Kamar-uz-Zaman, a man from Assam, who was arrested by Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of UP police from Kanpur on Thursday.

Meanwhile, a source in Assam Police informed that a team of ATS of the UP police would come to Assam and Meghalaya to investigate into suspected Jehadi network existing in the two states.
