SHILLONG: A patient’s husband lodged a complaint with the NEIGRIHMS Director about the alleged negligence of doctors of obstetrics and gynecology resulting in the death of their baby .
Though the letter was written recently by the husband, Aiyez Ahmed from Laban, he is yet to get any feedback from the institute.
As per the letter, Ahmed’ s wife Shasnam Praveen was brought to NEIGRIHMS emergency department on August 16 at 6 am due to pain and bleeding.
The emergency doctor attended to her and referred to obstetrics doctor immediately.
“But a trainee obstetrics doctor came only at 7. 45 am”, he said.
The letter said that the doctors did not analyse the reason for bleeding and instead she was advised to undergo ultra sound.
In the midst of bleeding, the lady delivered the baby, but the doctors, including the senior most one were not bothered to check the patient, the husband said, adding that the senior most doctor on duty was Ananya Das.
“We lost our baby due to the negligence of the duty team of obstetric doctors”, the husband said, demanding action against the doctors for their negligence.
