GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a high-level inquiry into Sunday night’s death of an Assam police constable from 10th Assam Police Battalion, Sukleswar Kathar, in the barrack of house guards on duty in the official residence of the chief minister at Brahmaputra State Guest House here.
City police commissioner, Pradip Saloi informed that deceased constable was apparently hit by bullets from his own service weapon, an AK 47 rifle and preliminary investigation indicated it to be a suicide. The constable with multiple bullet injuries had been rushed to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead. Saloi said details would be known once the high-level investigation was over.
The constable reportedly hails from Morigaon and was doing duty at the official residence of Assam CM, for the past two months. He is survived by his wife and two minor children.
