Meghalaya deficit teachers demand regular salary

SHILLONG: The General meeting of Mawkhar-Jaiaw zone of Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association has suggested its central body to take up the issue of regular salary of the deficit teachers with the State Government.

A statement said that Government should pay regular salary of deficit teachers as they have already fulfilled the Government criteria like official appointment, approval and confirmation through Government order and they deserve to be at par with Government employees.

They also said that as Meghalaya is a Christian state, the Government should release the 1st installment of arrear(25pc) of the revised pay for deficit teachers before Christmas

The teachers now also want the Government to extend the 5th pay commission’s   recommendation in letter and spirit to deficit teachers
