Khasi Mandarin included in world’s first food atlas

SHILLONG: Meghalaya’s Khasi Mandarin variety of orange is among the 175 food items from India included in the world’s first food atlas which has been launched at www.tasteatlas.com.
The idea of the atlas is to promote eat local culture as well as to inform travelers and food lovers about local ingredients and traditional dishes from all around the world.
The atlas contains almost 10,000 dishes, drinks, ingredients and food products from around the world.
Popular food from India that have made it to the list include Vada Pav, Idli, Chole Bhature, Hyderabadi Biryani, Pav Bhaji, Kachodi, Kheer, Pani Puri, Gulab Jamun, Masala Dosa and Butter Chicken, among several other favourite snacks and food items. No food item from other states of the Northeastern region has made it to the select list.
However, none of the restaurants in Meghalaya serving authentic food have made it to the TasteAtlas recommendation list. Altogether 367 authentic restaurants from India have been included in the list.
