GUWAHATI: Rain in Sahara, a conscious fusion music outfit from the city has been selected to play at the prestigious Fair Play Youth Voices, an international social justice music movement, part of the International Anti-Corruption Conference 2018 in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 23.

The conference is one of the biggest anti-corruption conferences in the world hosted by Transparency International, informs a press statement here.

Selected internationally from a global  competition, Rain in Sahara  which was founded by Lain Heringman, a Spanish development specialist and music producer and also an Assamese son-in-law, focuses on conscious music for  change.

The outfit comprises Rain Jong (vocals/guitars), Pawan Damai (guitars/vocals), Rajat Bangia (bass/visuals), Majid (drums/visuals), and Lain (producer/keyboards/flutes/vocals).

Their songs range from issues related to anti-corruption, environmental protection, climate change, mob-lynching and violence, greed and injustice, and focuses on youth and all citizens to

play an active role in being change makers and protecting the environment for sustainable development for all.

Rain in Sahara will be performing with international acts like Yasiin Bey

(also known as Mos Def), and acts from Colombia, Malawi and Liberia.

The outfit tries to spread positive messages through their music; that every person has the ability to chose right over wrong, benevolence over greed, and love over hatred. Small positive action and expressions through music, art and theatre and individual campaigns and positive actions can  all have a huge impact to protect human rights, promote transparency and spread love amongst all.

They believe that the power of music and youth combined together has the potential to create waves of change across the globe.

Upon returning from Europe, their next performance in the Northeast will be at the NH7 Weekender music festival in Meghalaya on November 3.
