Guv floored by scenic beauty of WKH

NONGSTOIN: Governor Tathagata Roy on Wednesday heaped praise on the scenic beauty of Meghalaya even going to the extent of comparing the rolling hills of West Khasi Hills with Switzerland.
“The dunes of the district are so beautiful and resemble the ones in Switzerland,” he said, while on a visit to West Khasi Hills to take part in a tourism promotion meeting.
The meeting, presided over by Deputy Commissioner T. Lyngwa, was held at the Conference Hall of the DC’s office which was attended by officials of the district administration and other dignitaries of Nongstoin. Roy further said that he will continue to visit various parts of the state as part of an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interact and bond with the local populace.
The governor stressed upon the need to promote and develop rural tourism which can create employment opportunities and said “Tourism industry needs to be taken care of and all facilities should be provided to tourists to boost the economy of the state.”
He was full of praise for the women folk of the district who still maintained traditional mode of dressing that symbolises the richness of Khasi tradition and culture.
