Ex gratia for slain security personnel doubled

SHILLONG: The state government has increased the ex gratia compensation amount for families of armed service personnel killed in action from Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
Talking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting on Monday, Home Minister James Sangma said the scheme was notified in 2012 and the scheme is extended to families of CAPF, state police and home guards.
Earlier, the compensation to personnel who were permanently disabled was Rs 1 lakh and now it has been increased to Rs 5 lakh.
Similarly, compensation for a civilian killed in action has been increased to Rs 2 lakh.
