SHILLONG: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Wednesday refused to meet members of Saiñdur, Tipkur Tipkha Ieng Ehrngiew Khun Hynniewtrep (STIEH).
The delegation wanted to meet him on the delay by the District Council Affairs department to forward the KHAD (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (First Amendment), Bill, 2018 to the Governor.
STIEH president Deiwi Tongper told reporters that they had sought an appointment from the deputy chief minister’s PA and was asked to meet him at 1 pm as Tynsong had to attend a meeting at 3 pm.
Criticising Tynsong’s behavious, a STIEH member Badariti Lyngdoh Nonglait said, “These public representatives run after people during elections and after elections it is disheartening that we have to walk past many doors to meet them.”
