SHILLONG: Team Shillong Endurance Motorsports Club in collaboration with Meghalaya AIDS Control Society decided to confront the society we live in by putting an end to discrimination and stigmatising against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV)
They as a Team is keen to create a new belief for society about the perils of stigmatisation and discrimination and therefore The Shillong Endurance Motorsports Club with the help of Meghalaya Aids Control Society staged a platform using Motorsports, to express and re-educate everyone including ourselves about the belief system and common misconceptions.
The 3-day event was held at ÏewShyllong Umtyngngar recently.
Sohra MLA Gavin M Mylliem also gave a short speech and flagged off the convoy of vehicles towards the venue along with K. Pradipkumar Singh Brand Ambassador for this event who is PLHIV
The challenge started with the Motocross Categories of each Class (2S & 4S /Novice Expert). As the riders competed with each other for points in MOTO 1.
For Day 2, all the two wheeler categories competed in the second leg of the challenge – MOTO 2. On this day, the event witnessed fierce competition among the contestants to finish at the top of the points table.
The other categories which were also held simultaneously on this day were the 4×4 (Modified & Stock) Categories and SEMC Bicycle Trails 1st, 2nd and Final Run.
For Day 3 -the last leg of the competition was fought with grit, determination and glory in each of the categories. The two wheeler categories were the first ones to finish before sunset; while the 4×4 battle continued till about 8 PM. The prize distribution ceremony started at around 8.30 PM for the two wheeler categories first and later the 4×4 winners were awarded.
The Meghalaya Aids Control Society simultaneously was conducting IEC programs and ICTC testing on all three days of the event wherein engaging spectators with general awareness and questions about HIV, cures, measures etc., and gifting them with MAC merchandise.
The event was powered by CR Projects. In Association with Bansara Eye Care, a free eye check up clinic was set up on all days of the event for the residents of the village. Assam Rifles helped us with event infrastructure. Bethany Hospital was our hospital partner for the event along with District Medical Health Office (DMHO)
