SHILLONG: Power Minister James Sangma has called a meeting on Monday with MeECL and his department to discuss the issue of load shedding.
The state experienced load shedding from Saturday in view of power regulation by NEEPCO.
The Meghalaya government owes Rs 500 crore to NEEPCO and “it is a big challenge for us but we will discuss the issue on Monday and see what can be done”, said the power minister.
Load shedding, which is not a new phenomenon in Meghalaya, started early this year with Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited resorting to load-shedding from Saturday.
While most of the localities in the city will have an hour of darkness, many rural pockets will have to go without power for three hours.
