SHILLONG: The High Court of Meghalaya has asked the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council to pay gratuity amounting to Rs 8,21,940 to a retired employee.
The court of Chief Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, while disposing of the case on Tuesday, said the GHADC should pay the amount to Snaram D Sangma “without any fail within a period of two months”.
“In case of default, the respondents shall be liable to pay the amount along with interest at 6 per cent per annum,” the court ordered.
The gratuity was sanctioned to be paid in 2015. The GHADC had also sought two months’ time to pay the gratuity in two installments.
