TURA: The husband of the staff nurse at Bajengdoba Hospital, who was accused of harassing an elderly patient a few days ago, has issued a clarification regarding the incident.
According to the husband Tochang Sangma, on December 2, Kennar Marak had approached his wife, who works as a nurse at the hospital and asked her to administer him an injection.
Marak was told that nurses could not administer injections to anyone without a prescription after which he allegedly created a scene.
Marak later returned and started pestering the staff and left the scene only after people rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion.
With regard to the delay in filing the FIR against Kennar, Tochang said that the resident doctor had persuaded his wife to wait. The FIR against Marak was filed five days after the incident.
On the claim by Kennar that he had tried to disrupt the meeting of NGO leaders, Tochang said that a meeting did take place where he had enlightened the gathering about what had really taken place at the hospital on December 2.
While Kennar had accused Tochang of being a former ALMA militant in an earlier statement released to the media, it has been revealed by reliable sources that it is in fact he who is a former ALMA militant.
Police are following up on the incident.
