Stolen
On January 2, unknown miscreants broke into the office of the Executive Engineer, Western Revenue Division, MePDCL at Umiam and stole one computer set.
Milick Shangpung lodged a complaint that on January 1 at about 4 pm, unknown miscreants stole cash of Rs 6 lakh from his residence at Iapmala village (EJH).
On January 1, unknown miscreants stole a motorcycle (ML-05Q-4146) belonging to Refenchal Syiem from Lumdiengmet, Umpling, Shillong.
On December 30, 2018 unknown miscreants stole a motorcycle (ML-07B-0197) belonging to Rapiush Sangma from Nongchram, Dalchigittim (EGH).
Eleven shops gutted
On January 2 at about 1 am, fire broke out at Patharkhmah in Ri Bhoi , reportedly due to electric short circuit. As a result, eleven shops were gutted. However, no loss of human life was reported.
In another incident on December 26, fire broke out at Dilma Doreng Saram village (NGH), reportedly due to electric short circuit. As a result, five houses belonging to Thilson R Sangma were completely gutted. Loss of property is estimated around Rs. 15 lakh.
Bodies found
Kajal Malakar lodged a complaint that on January 1 around 7.30 pm, his brother Niranjan Malakar left his residence at Khliehriat East (EJH) to collect his daily wages from Paul Suchiang and did not return home since then. However, on January 2, the dead body of Niranjan Malakar was recovered from a drain at Khliehriat East (EJH).
On December 19, one male body was found in a highly decomposed stage at Lumshyiap, Nongmynsong, in one small room. Inquest and other legal formalities have been done and the same have been sent to SDM&HO Civil Hospital for PM. After PM, body was kept in the civil hospital morgue. Name is Bom Bahadur Thapa and age is 50-60 years.
Threatened
On December 31 circa 9 am, Dibarness Syiemlieh threatened Richman Lyngdoh with dire consequences at Kynshi Bangla village (WKH).
Assault
On December 31, 2018 Rang Mawsor (34) assaulted Donborlin Puwein (20) near Umdang village (WKH). As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Nongstoin.
On December 9 at about 9 pm, unidentified miscreants assaulted Badapkupar Marbaniang at Lawsohtun, Shillong.
Attempt to kill wife
A complaint was lodged by a women that in February 2018, she married Abdul Awal in a Court at Goalpara, Assam and since then she stayed with him in a rented house in Krishnai area. Later, when she found that her husband is already married and have children, she left him and went to stay with her parents at Dilma Rejakgittim NGH. On December 25, 2018 circa 3 am, Abdul Awal went to her house and attempted to kill her by strangulation. However, the accused was apprehended by her relatives and handed him over to police.
