Six women traders injured as vehicle falls into gorge

MAWKYRWAT: Six women were injured, two of them critically, when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a gorge at Riat Thawlong here on Thursday.
The women were supplying betel nuts to Mawkyrwat market in which five of them belonged to Kynrang village and one was from Rynsang, both near Mawsynram.
The vehicle was being driven by Coldbiness Kharraswai (24), who is also from Kynrang village.
It went off the road and fell into the 30-foot deep gorge. All of them were taken to the Mawkyrwat community health centre.
The injured were identified as Iarliss Kharraswai (45) and Nancy Marwein (60) of Kynrang village, Saintisible Thongni (50), Aitihun Kharraswai (35) and Siewdorlin Thongni (42) of Kynrang village and Nurseicy Kharraswai (50) of Rynsang village.
Police said the driver claimed that the cause of the incident was due to malfunctioning of the brake. However, investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the incident.
Four injured in JH
Jesse Dkhar (27) and Nangkyrsoi (26) sustained injuries when the Maruti car they were travelling in skidded and overturned on Pommura Khappud Main Road.
First aid and wound care was done and the victims were shifted to Mawryngkneng PHC by 108 Ambulance.
In another incident, 35-year-old Iohnam Warkhyllew and 33-year-old Mon Sohtun sustained injuries as the vehicle they were travelling in hit a parked truck.
According to witnesses, the speeding vehicle lost control. They were shifted to Super Care Hospital.
On December 31, 2018 around 5.30 pm, a Maruti Alto driven by JL Nongrum (27) collided with a vehicle at Mawlangren, NH-44E (WKH). Six occupants of the Maruti Alto sustained injuries and were shifted to U Tirot Sing Memorial Hospital in Mairang (WKH).
