Meghalaya: Farmers’ body call on CM for all round development of Adokgre

TURA: The Farmers’ Association of Adokgre in North Garo Hills has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma urging him to look into the all round development of Adokgre and its adjoining areas.

The association in their memorandum among others sought the timely completion of the Rongjeng-Mangsang-Adokgre Road which when completed would be the shortest route connecting Guwahati and two district headquarters- Williamnagar and Baghmara and also happens to be lifeline for people of 25 villages in the area.

The association sought the up-gradation of Kharkutta C&RD block to Civil Sub-Division and creation of new C&RD Block at A’dokgre, up-gradation of A’dokgre PHC to CHC, MLP Anti-Dacoity Camp at A’dokgre to Police Station and installation of AD Camp at Ildek Akong and up-gradation of A’dokgre Secondary School to Higher Secondary School.

Other demands made by the association in the memorandum included the construction of a Multi Facility Centre and Open Auditorium at A’dokgre, installation of mobile towers one each at Dilma Adap, Badaka, A’dokgre, Chigranggre and Aruakgre, beautification of famous Naka Chiring Picnic spot, construction of bridge over Ildek River at Badaka, facility for safe drinking water supply, change of village name from A’dokgiri to A’dokgre, setting up of a Veterinray Hospital, construction of NEC Road at A’dokgre-Dhupdhara Road ie Assam portion, replacement of timber bridge with RCC over Bongbong River at Sakware village and facilitate the reduction of royalty collection on Broomstick by the GHADC.

The association while reminding that Late P A Sangma during his time had kick-started all election campaigns from A’dokgre urged Conrad Sangma to fulfil the wish and aspiration of the people all of which have been listed in the memorandum.

Copies of the memorandum were also submitted to Home Minister, James K Sangma and Kharkutta MLA Rupert Momin.
