SHILLONG: Former ANVC-B chairman Bernard Marak has blamed the monopoly of “some politicians” in the previous government in coal business for the imposing of ban.
In a statement to the media, Marak said there was no point blaming the present government as “the ban on coal was the handiwork of the previous government”.
“The ban on coal should not have happened in Meghalaya if some politicians did not try to do monopoly the entire coal business. It is so wrong that the tribals are being deprived of their own property,” he said.
Marak also accused “some officers” of overlooking the constitutional reservation of tribals. He insisted that tribals should fight with the knowledge of the constitution and make claims based on indigenous history.
