SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) led by North Shillong MLA Adelbert Nongrum has released the names of six candidates for the council polls scheduled for February.
The names of the candidates are Filing Ton Roy Thangkhiew from Mylliem, Diman Singh Marbaniang from Laitumkhrah-Malki, Glenbert Khongwir from Mawkhar-Pynthor, Strong Kharjana from Jaiaw, Khamborlang Kharshandi from Mawphlang-Diengiei and Baiateilang Lapang from Umroi.
Meanwhile, Nongrum reiterated his opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, asserting that acquiring of citizenship on the basis of religion is not applicable and most objectionable.
“The state should immediately implement inner line permit (ILP) if the Centre decides to go ahead with the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill,” he said.
