GH fighters win medals at martial arts tourney

TURA: Three fighters from Garo Hills have done the region proud by winning medals at the recently concluded 2nd North East Pencak Silat Championships 2018-19 organized by the Assam Pencak Silat Association in Assam. Out of altogether six participants from Garo Hills who represented the Meghalaya Team Wiseman Ch Marak, Preniven Ch Momin and Brend Kelyan sangma all won Silver Medals.The delegation from Meghalaya was led by Team Coach Eddy D Marak and Team Manager Elbiston Marak. Team Coach Eddy D Marak and Manager Elbiston Marak have also received official invitations from the Indian Pencak Silat Federation to participate in the All India Inter Zonal Pencak Silat Championships 2018-19 to be held from February 8 to 10 at Punjab Indoor Gymnasium Hall and Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar. Meanwhile, the team has expressed thanks to all those who helped them by offering donations to represent the Meghalaya Team in the tournament.
