Ampareen stresses on sustainable development

 SHILLONG: Considering the issue of sustainable development as a challenge in the 21st century, Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said there is a need to converge the recommendations on the issue from educational institutions and the government to ensure a sustainable future.

“There is a need to carry forward the idea and issue of sustainable development discussed by various stakeholders, scientists, educational institutions to bring about sustainable growth in the state”, Lyngdoh said.

Lyngdoh was addressing the valedictory function of the three-day seminar on “Issues in the Sustainable Development of Meghalaya” organized by William Carey University at Don Bosco Youth Centre here on Wednesday.

Lyngdoh also stressed on the need to involve educational institutions along with the government in order to bring in sustainable development in the state while urging upon the  educational bodies to work along with the government in various action programmes.

 “The government will lend its helping hand to ensure growth and sustainable development in the state”, Lyngdoh said.

  During the three-day seminar, papers were presented by resource persons on various issues pertaining to sustainable development.
