SHILLONG: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Wednesday asserted that the Government is embarking upon structuring its own flagship programme based on renewable resources giving ample opportunities to the people.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of a one-day seminar on ‘Meghalaya Food Processing Investors’ Meet’ held in the city, Mukul Sangma said that the State Government has taken to structure its own flagship programme since Center’s flagship programme though designed for all have not benefited the state and NE in particular.
“The State flagship programmes will give ample opportunities to the people’. Sangma said.
He also asked the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) to participate in the implementation of the first flagship programme – ‘Integrated Basin Development & Livelihood Programme of the state as ‘pro-active partner’.
According to Sangma, the proposed partnership would promote aspiring entrepreneurs engaged in food processing industries.
NERAMAC Managing Director, S Bhattacharjee while addressing the gathering rued that the products of the NE lacks marketing due to the problem of packaging.
Different national investors, students, officers from the State Industries department and even farmers from the rural areas participated in the seminar organised by the NERAMAC.
