NEW DELHI: The troika of Mukul-Celestine-Pala will find strategy for the Lok Sabha elections in Meghalaya where it faces stiff challenges from the emerging NPP and regional parties, some of whom are part of the BJP led NDA.
Interestingly, state party president Celestine will be the common thread since both Mukul Sangma and Vincent H Pala are most likely to fight Tura and Shillong Lok Sabha seats respectively.
Both Mukul and Pala do not find a place in the campaign committee since they will be tied up in their own elections, AICC sources said when pointed out the omission of the two top leaders from the vital campaign committee.
The other aspirants like Deborah Marak and Zenith Sangma for Tura and HDR Lyngdoh (Shillong) have been accommodated in the committees.
Former Ministers Ampareen Lyngdoh, Charles Pyngrope and Congress MLA Dikanchi D Shira are also in the committees.
The PCC president, Celestine Lyngdoh will lead the team as Chairman of Pradesh Co-ordination Committee, Pradesh Election Committee and Pradesh Campaign Committee.
The top three committees contain most of its sitting MLAs besides veterans like S C Marak, R C Laloo, Deborah Marak and Rajya Sabha member Wansuk Syiem.
Congress legislator H M Shangpliang is the Convener of the Pradesh Campaign Committee.
There are election management teams and publicity committees too, all appointed by party president Rahul Gandhi.
