NONGSTOIN: National Awardee of Swachh Shakti, Marshal Basaiawmoit, was felicitated at Bishop Hall in Nongstoin on Friday.
Basaiawmoit received the award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 12 at Kurukshetra, Haryana.
While congratulating Basaiawmoit, West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa said it is a great honour and privilege for Mawkhan village, which has also got national recognition, due to Basaiawmoit’s towards cleanliness.
He lauded the efforts of Basaiawmoit and her sister Maskolin.
The felicitation includes a cash award of Rs 10,000 each to both the sisters, a shawl, mementos and a cheque of Rs 1,00,000 as the first instalment to the Sordar of Mawkhan village for construction of a pucca toilet for the two families.
