Assam man arrested for raping minor

JOWAI: A man from Assam on Friday has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor in Jaintia Hills.
The mother of the victim, Mershia Dkhar filed an FIR on February 13 stating that on February 12 around 2: 30 pm, her daughters had gone to Thlusniang jungle to collect vegetables, when Islam along with another man had raped her 15-year-old daughter.
The accused identified as Sahidur Islam, who is married to a Pnar woman, had fled to his native village Panbari, Chirang District of Assam after committing the crime.
However, the accused was brought back by West Jaintia Hills Police.
