eNGO to address dearth of information content

 SHILLONG:After e-governance and smart classes being introduced in the state, the eNGO has now stepped in to help address the dearth of information content issue in India’s poor digital economy by tapping these grassroot institutions that have readily available content but lack the means in projecting the same.

In accordance with this new technology, a one-day eNGO workshop was held as part of the national movement to make grassroot organization ICT enabled with free website designing and training to manage their websites independently at Presbyterian Church India Conference Hall here on Wednesday.

Organized by the Impulse NGO as a Regional Partner of Digital Empowerment Foundation with support from Public Interest Registry (PIR), this workshop aimed at helping various civil society organizations to avail simple method to eNGO services at the same time a web space in local language to empower grassroot organisations with useful ICT tools.

The workshop saw the participation of around 18 organisations from all over the state and they were provided with detailed presentation on the facilities and advantages of eNGO in catering and addressing a huge population.

Highlighting on the basic importance of eNGO, a representative of Digital Empowerment Foundation, Divendra Singh said local NGOs can benefit from a unique online signature to promote their respective missions, causes and social services. Stating that .NGO is the domain name for the website, Singh said “The value of .NGO is visibility, exclusivity and reliability.”
